The Region 4-A CALABARZON cagebelles continued their stellar run in the Private Schools Athletic Association – Nationals as they extended their winning streak to six, defeating Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the semifinals round of the women’s basketball, 73-64, tournament earlier this morning at the Notre Dame of Marbel University Gymnasium, April 7.

It was a battle of defense for both regions as the scores ran neck-and-neck during the first half of the match, 38-34.

Maintaining their solid defense, Region 4-A’s import Irah Joannah Almariego and Shennen Dorio, and Patriot Diane Reyes combined for 25 points during the second half and stunned CAR with a nine-point advantage, 73-64.

 

Claiming another finale opportunity, CALABARZON coach Tito Reyes shared that the team is ready for the possible outcome for their game tomorrow, “Before pa naman pumunta kami dito, sinet na namin ‘yung sarili namin na nag-focus na kami ‘yung team to beat. Ready na kami sa kahit anong mangyari, basta gagawin lang namin ‘yungpinaka-best namin parama–i-try nama-defend ‘yung title namin.”

CALABARZON is set to defend their fifth-peat title against the Davaoeños tomorrow morning, April 8, in the same venue.
